Gilberto talks to Alex Gontijo in Rio
By Myles Palmer
ANOTHER report from Rio de Janeiro by ANR's Alexandre Gontijo, who had a chat with Arsenal's Mr Nice Guy at Brazil's training camp. Sunday's result was Bolivia 1 Brazil 1. ____________________ GILBERTO SILVA showed tremendous goodwill when talking about Arsenal in Teresopolis, the Braziliam Bisham Abbey. The lad from Lagoa da Prata is loved by all the journalists because he treat them all in the same way. From the humblest to "the local John Motson" he is always friendly and answers everyone's questions, so I asked him about Arsenal. With Edu´s departure, who is your best buddy in the club? He said, "Lauren, the Cameroonian, who was raised in Spanish colony of Ceuta." He also chats with Robert Pires because he can talk in Portuguese, mother language of the Frenchman's father. And Arsene, he always talks with him. When asked about the Emirates Stadium, he said he understood the need for more seats, but he would always have a soft spot for Highbury. Gilberto said he had no time for homesickness and could see Brazilian programmes thanks to satellite TV. Asked about the English players habit of asking for money for interviews, he jokingly said, "The next time we meet I will ask you for a lot of money!" October 19th 2005
